Pre-Season Thoughts and Picks

Here's a twist on an old saying: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again....but not before a slap in the face...Right, Brad (Womack)? (giggle)

Okay, let me throw this at you guys: After a year where Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, and Brett Farve suddenly went nuts with women, what Mr. Womack did a few seasons back doesn't seem so bad now, does it? Of course, he didn't go about it the right way, but would a fake engagement been a better move instead? Followed by the inevitable break-up press release? Concluding with the most dramatic post-break up interview, ever?!

I for one, applaud this Texas gentleman for having the courage to do what he did. Those of you who are more obsessedd than I am with all things Bachelor/Bachelorette know that Brad has been thru a lot in the last two years with therapy and finding out who he really is. ABC and the producers of the show have made an excellent move with this set-up which should make for a fascinating season, especially for those of us romantics who believe in second chances...

But before the first roses are handed out, I wanted to play Bachelor myself by giving 10 of my own cyber-matically to showcase my favorites and potential front runners based on both their head shots and bios (yes, I do read those...for like the Temptations said, “Beauty's only skin deep, yeah, yeah, yeah”.

JEFFREY”S TOP TEN BACHELORETTE PICKS FOR THE BACHELOR, SEASON 15

(in no particular order....well...not yet, anyway)

  1. Ashely S.-You gotta love a woman who wants to be serenaded with a boombox a'la John Cuszak in “Say Anything.” But could I sub Open Arms in place of In Your Eyes?

  2. Britt-A former gymnast (note: F-L-E-X-I-B-L-E), a food writer, owner of a potty trained rabbit and she loves one of my fave holidays, Halloween. Bonus for aerodynamic hair.

  3. Chantal-Her bio on the ABC/Bachelor website leaves a bit to be desired, but the eyes and smile suggest a warm personality (I hope). Bonus points for liking dates that never end when the parties keep finding things to do...I'm an all nighter, too (hey, don't get the wrong idea, gutter dwellers...)

  4. Emily-A gorgeous blonde with Miss America type looks, she loves hot and cold weather equally (4th of July picnics on the lake; Aspen winters by the fire)....and how about a lady that goes back to a restaurant to apologize to a waitress her date was rude to the night before? Class.

  5. J. - Despite her one letter name (what, is she in the witness relocation program?) and her plain Jane looks, there's something appealing about a girl who admits she once laughed so hard she wet her pants...while skiing!

  6. Jackie-Points off the bat for being an artist, admiration for packing up what she had at an early age to learn how to survive in the jungle of New York and digging the kind of date which includes dinner, a play, an art opening and late night conversation at the end. All this and gorgeous to boot.

  7. Keltie-As a fan of old school Hollywood musicals, this lady's bio intrigued me with the words Radio, City and Rockette. But add to that bookworm status, an impulsive travel streak and 5 tattoos. Nice.

  8. Marissa-Almost a dead ringer for my “House” MD crush, Lisa Edelstein, this sports publicist digs baseball as a huge Tampa Bay Rays fan...Bonus points for an idea date day starting at the ball park and ending with slow dancing.

  9. Michelle-In addition to posessing the kind of looks that would inspire me to write a song named after her a'la Paul McCartney, she's a fellow romantic, music lover and conversationalist.

  10. .) Stacey-Like Michelle above, I have a feeling this lady is equally proficient at conversation via her gig as a bartender...and I gotta applaud a family who does a talent show at Christmas and has dinner with seven fishes (how can I get an RSVP?)....

So, will these ladies live up to my expectations...or more importantly, will Brad approve? Check back in days ahead for my thoughts on the premiere episode.
