It always seems like forever from when nominations are first announced, but it's finally here. Oscars 2011 is only hours away as of this blog dispatch.

Kind of a bittersweet one for me, because due to a horrible 2010 which I will not bore you guys with, I've only had a chance to see one Best Picture nominee (Toy Story 3, which is a shoo-in for Best Animated Film), so I haven't felt this out of place/kid in a new school-like in almost 40 years of watching this she-bang. Kind of reminds me of the first year I ever watched the Oscars, back in 1972 if I remember correctly; the year Charlie Chaplin was welcomed back to Hollywood with that special honorary Academy Award, a sweet moment and one of discovery for me, for I had no idea who the man was at first. Minutes later following a career highlights reel which concluded with that mustachioed, cane carrying simple little man known as the Tramp walked off into the sunset, I burst into tears...

..and it's those types of moments that have kept me coming back for the last 4 decades.
