Catching Up...

Hey all!
Over the last week and a half, or so, regular readers of this column may have noticed a bit of a slow down in dispatches...and in a way, I'm sorry. In another way, I'm not.
Allow me to explain...
Last weekend, I discovered around 20 dear old friends on Facebook ranging from people I went to church with in my younger days to people I haven't heard or talked to in nearly 20-25 years. Such discoveries tie in to my sole New Year's Eve resolution: To reconnect with people who were so instrumental in my early life, a period in which I feel I excelled better at being more in touch with a multitude of people from all walks of life.
Going back to my roots, you might say (some of which may need coloring, especially if fugitive creative exploits involve going back on camera....Guys, does the Anderson Cooper/John King look work for you?
Anyway, how ironic it is in these days of technological wonders such as face to face chatting and instant messaging that we seem to be incommunicado with people we SHOULD be maintaining contact with, like elderly relatives, fellow friends still out of work for over a year, and most of all, the younger members of my family, whom for me are like the children I'll never have without a wife of my own (unless I get lucky in my forthcoming fabulous 50's).
Okay, okay, okay! Enough personal commentary; let me get back on the horse and play catch up on things usually covered on here.
The Bachelor: Ah, let me cast my mind back, here...My last blog for Bachelor Brad came after he gave Shawntel the boot. Then, his remaining angels and he departed for Africa (cue the John Barry soundtrack to Out Of Africa), for some increased quality time with Chantal, Emily and Ashley.
Honestly? It would have been a really short blog piece, for the most part...especially with the first two girls...the respective relationships with their accompanying chemistry were going smoothly, with the Brad-Chantal match-up being the best (although Em's an eyelash behind). But poor Ashley...
Whatever happened between these two since the days of the amusement park night, the mid-season fall and recovery, and Africa? Beyond uncomfortable it was to watch what would be their final day together. In a real touch of class, Brad didn't want to put Ashley through the emotional ringer of a rose ceremony.
It was already worse enough for her limo ride outside of town...But as they say...
Time heals all wounds...and a first class makeover does not hurt...Well, not TOO much of a makeover, but Ashley had all of us drop jawed as the Season 15 gals converged for the annual Women Tell All talkfest, one that turned out to be one of the best in the show's history. Not surprisingly, many a girl had terse comments for Michelle, who (I believe genuinely) broke down in a sea of tears, not once, but twice. Her former housemates were equally divided, but she found a strong supporter in Ashley H., which really testifies to her character..and perhaps, one of the qualities that may put her in the spotlight in May as the new Bachelorette.
For me, I would choose Chantal for the role should she not be Brad's chosen one, or Emily if she doesn't have the ring placed around her finger. But the television exec inside me goes Ashley H.
Like the show's two most recent stars Ali Fedotowsky and Jillian Harris, she exudes that warm yet sexy allure of the girl next door. Maybe not as instantly camera pretty as Emily and Chantal, but let her personality shine, and she becomes more beautiful than the both of them, combined.
...and lordy, does she not look even more hawt in her natural brunette color or what? My jaw dropped to be honest...and I would think Brad's did, too.
DWTS-Yep, in these days of abbreviations, you “Dancing” fans of the ABC smash know just exactly what high steppin' TV show I'm talking about...but even the most dyed in the wool faithful seem to be very disappointed in this year's cast...and that seems to be a habit around 50 percent of the time...
Then, you take another look and explore the possibilities: Kirstie Alley possibly toppling Max? Kendra Wilkinson becoming a household name for something other than being a reality star Girl Next Door? Wrestling vet Chris Jericho going from demon to dreamboat?
Yep, those three cases and more potential lie ahead for what comes off to me as one of the most well paired casts of professionals and celebrities in the show's history...So don't be surprised if this season's Dancing becomes one of the most beloved..and you just know Kirstie's gonna be the Cloris Leachman of the ballroom on this go-round.
Have fun, 10 second delay officiators...
Charlie Sheen-To paraphrase the title of a beloved Al Franken (er, excuse me, SENATOR Al Franken).
Who walks away from a million dollar paycheck some 20-22 weeks a year for playing pretend playboy, getting to sneak under the covers with some of the prettiest, talented female actresses in the biz, and getting to be part of a terrific ensemble cast (including the wonderful, vastly underrated Jon Cryer whom I've loved for years before the general public even knew who he was).
Give me the damn button-up shirts Crazy Charlie complained about, stat! I'm a little portly, but I have a charm that sneaks up on you, I'm unemployed and need the work, I've done comedy in my past as part of an award winning local TV ensemble, and hey, I'll even show up way too early to help the crew via my 25 year television background...maybe even bringing along a few boxes of Krispy Kremes, too...and aside from prescribed drugs to help my clinical depression, I'm dope, alcohol, and worry free!
Now, isn't that what's really called, “WINNING?!”
Back to you, Nancy O'Hart.....

-Jeffrey Rosado is a writer, performer, pop culture historian, and all around nice guy...until some Hollywood dweeb insults the memory of Martin Luther King by utilizing a line from one of the peacemaker's most brilliant speeches.
As long as you give into the dual slavery of psychological problems and drug addiction, you will never be “free at last”, Mr. Sheen.
